An eternal perspective on earthly things.

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

2 Corinthians 9:7

Stewardship is bigger than a budget. It is the way we hold everything God has entrusted to us, our bodies, our hours, our abilities, our finances, and even our emotions. At New Hope in Clovis, we opened 2022 by asking what it means to manage all of it well.

Across five Sundays, Pastors Mark, Tim, and Andrew walked through physical health, spiritual gifts, time, financial resources, and emotional health. The thread through every message is the same. When we see ourselves as caretakers rather than owners, gratitude and generosity follow.

Week 1 Mark Addis January 2, 2022

In one survey, half the people asked said doing their taxes was less complicated than working out how to eat a healthy meal. Pastor Mark Addis opens a series on stewardship with the part of it nobody expects: the body.

Week 2 Andrew Lynch January 9, 2022

A one-man band is an oxymoron and a genuinely impressive sight. Pastor Andrew Lynch shows one, then says it is exactly what a church should not look like.

Week 3 Mark Addis January 16, 2022

Time is the fire in which we burn. It is a line from a poem, borrowed by a Star Trek villain, and Pastor Mark Addis says it is accurate but only half the picture. In the hands of someone following Christ, time stops being a predator and becomes a resource.

Week 4 Tim Rolen January 23, 2022

Candid Camera once left children alone in a room with a plate of cookies, one of them noticeably bigger than the rest. Every single child took the big one. Pastor Tim Rolen uses that to open the subject nobody else in the series wanted.

Week 5, series finale Andrew Lynch January 30, 2022

The American Psychological Association takes fifty-nine words to define embarrassment, a feeling anybody recognises in half a second. Pastor Andrew Lynch starts there, and works towards a plainer claim: our emotions are part of what God called good.
