  • TIKVA's mission

At TIKVA, we provide community, training and holistic support for women and children in crisis.

  • TIKVA's vision

To see vibrant, thriving communities of women and children find their positive and productive places in God’s global family.

  • How it began

TIKVA was born on the streets of Medellín during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the Venezuelan migration crisis left more women and children than ever in extreme vulnerability. Founder Rebekah Slick and Team TIKVA answered with help and hope, and haven’t stopped since.

Why Medellín.

  • 7.77MVenezuelans have fled their country since 2015
  • 2.86MVenezuelans now in Colombia, where TIKVA serves
  • 7.2MColombians displaced inside their own country
  • 74%of human trafficking cases in Colombia in 2024 involved sexual exploitation

Migrants, the internally displaced, and women exploited through trafficking and prostitution all arrive at TIKVA’s door. Poverty, displacement and violence leave them vulnerable, and TIKVA meets them with shelter, trauma-informed care, vocational training and a path toward restoration.
