About · Membership

Make New Hope your church home.

If New Hope is already your church, membership is the step that makes it official. It is a way to put down roots, to be known and counted, and to share the work and care of one church family.

The next step

More than a name on a list.

Plenty of people call New Hope home long before they become members, and you are welcome at every service and ministry either way. Membership is the next step for those ready to commit. It says this is my church, these are my people, and I am ready to serve, to give, and to grow alongside them. It is an outward step that puts words to what God has already done in your heart.

Members also share in the life and direction of the church. Once a member turns 18 they become a voting member, with a voice at the annual meeting and a part in decisions like calling pastors and electing elders.

What it takes

Three things.

01

A public confession of faith

You profess faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and as your personal Lord and Savior.

02

Believer's baptism

You have been baptized by immersion, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. If you have not yet been baptized, we will help you take that step first.

03

Agreement with our beliefs

You have read and agree with the covenant set out in our Statement of Faith, what New Hope holds to be true.

How it works

From attender to member.

1

Take the membership class

New Hope holds a membership class every quarter. It covers what we believe, the church's history, and what membership means, with space for you to share your own faith story.

2

The elders review your request

Our Board of Elders reviews and approves every membership request. They make sure the next step is the right one, for you and for the church.

3

Be welcomed in

Once the elders confirm your membership, the church welcomes you as part of the family.

Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of his household.
